Portugal is known for its beaches and golf courses but many visitors never venture into the mountains and countryside which has remained unchanged for centuries and is home to many fascinating and rare birds and animals.

You dont need to be an experienced rider to enjoy a day at the new forest lodge. We have a selection of safe, comfortable carriages from which you may either sit back and enjoy the drive or if you prefer your coachmen will be happy to show you the basics of carriage-driving. You may wish to take the reins and try your hand at this ancient sport or you may prefer to saddle up and ride one of our friendly horses or ponies.
We give below a selection of rates for various rides and drives but are more than happy to discuss your personal requirements.
Farm Trail
About 1 hour: An introduction to your horse in the corral and a short gentle ride or drive around local farm trails.€30/Person
Forest Trail
A half day hack: An introduction to your horse in the corral, assist or be shown how to saddle or harness your horse, ride or drive out along forest trails and farm tracks. Lunch* will be served at the beginning or end of your ride.€65/Person
Adventure Trail
A days riding or driving: Leaving after breakfast, stopping for a picnic lunch* and returning mid afternoon (can be arranged later in the day if prefered).€95/Person
Short pony or carriage rides
A photo opportunity or treat for the kids.€15/Person
*A picnic or BBQ lunch with wine and other drinks are included with the Forest and adventure trails. Non participating guests are welcome for lunch at an inclusive cost of €25, we can always find them a comfortable arm chair or hammock whilst they wait.
We have hard hats and chaps available but recommend you bring your own suitable footwear and long trousers. Wherever possible please book at least a day in advance, but we will try to accommodate last minute requests. In the heat of the summer we recommend riding in the early morning or evening.
